About the Role

The Rip Curl Brand Manager Europe (M/W) is responsible for driving sustainable sales growth, leading and executing the sales and marketing strategies, and enhancing the overall market presence of the brand in Europe.

This position is responsible for motivating our Rip Curl crew (Sales, Marketing and Products) to fulfil the Company Vision and uphold the Company Principles & Values to deliver on agreed strategic priorities to achieve budgeted sales & profitability targets.

Accountabilities

  • Build, lead, motivate and inspire the regional team to maximize profitability and deliver on short and long-term group strategic and operational plans and budgets.
  • Build and maintain a positive high-performance culture with strong employee engagement.
  • Convey the company value to the Rip Curl crew.
  • In partnership with the Head Office and the President of KMD Brands Europe, build and execute a three-year plan for Europe that drives regional growth.
  • Actively participate to annual budget and quarterly forecast processes for Executive management review and approval.
  • Review Rip Curl monthly financial results, ensuring that results are managed within budgets. Where variances are expected, proactively communicate such variations in a timely way to KMD Brands Europe President and VP Finance.
  • Oversee regional inventory purchases for Rip Curl, to manage the risk of excess inventory.
  • Develop the wholesale sales strategy to drive sales in the European market.
  • Lead the sales team to achieve sales budgets by product category and geographical territory.
  • Build and deliver on a distribution plan that drives brand awareness, growth, and profitability.
  • Identify and execute on license store opportunities, benefiting both our existing customers and store growth ambitions.
  • Work with Brand Manager for Rip Curl on leveraging existing relationships across all brands within the KMD Brands portfolio.
  • Ensure local product teams are following global merchandise initiatives and working in an integrated cohesive manner with the global product team.
  • Partner with GM Product to ensure regional needs are met and maximised while supporting 80/20 globalisation and regionalisation of the range.
  • Ensure Europe’s product requirements are communicated to the Heads of Product, in line with the Global Design and Range Development Calendars focussing on innovation, volume, new category or style opportunities.
  • Execute global marketing assets in region to ensure we stay within the principle of one world, one brand.
  • Drive grass roots initiatives, inclusive of local team, events, local POP, Media, and PR.
  • Partner with KMD Brands Europe Retail Manager on a retail expansion strategy for Europe, identifying the potential locations for retail expansion and execute to strategy.
  • Partner with KMD Brands Europe Digital Manager to support eCommerce growth and unified commerce deliverables in region.
  • Oversee Rip Curl brand operations in Europe on a day-to-day basis with the support of KMD Brands Europe functions.
  • Ensure Rip Curl operates lawfully and according to accepted Corporate Compliance standards, including industrial relations, employment, and safety laws.
  • Foster and cultivate Rip Curl specific B-Corp certification and Environment, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) requirements.
  • Live the company & brand values.
  • Ensure that all Rip Curl crew understand the company & brand values. And ensure that all business activities are in line with the company values.

Essential qualities and experience requirements

  • Ability to charismatically engage & lead.
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
  • Demonstrated change management skills.
  • Ability to develop financial plans and manage resources. And ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate tenacity, initiative, and strategic agility.
  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in a leadership role for a large division or company.
  • Track record of driving business to exceed sales targets & budgets.
  • Proven experience & success in coaching & developing executive teams.
  • Proven success in developing & managing talent.
  • Understanding of and connection to the board sports industry.
