The environmental commitment of Surf, Skate and Snowboard companies
Sport Premiere
"Is the environment a paramount issue?". That is the title of the 8 page article of the magazineSport Premiere dedicated to including environmental issues in Surfi ng. Christophe Seiller(EuroSIMA Cluster) and Benoît Dandine (responsible for the Sustainsable developmentcommission at EuroSIMA) have brought to light the various collective projects of the industryand the companies that are committed to the Ecoride policy. The article is available forconsultation at the EuroSIMA offi ce in Capbreton.
The national environmental consumption products labeling test
A pair of Cool Shoe slaps, a pair of Rip Curl board shorts and a Notox surfboard were analyzedby Quantis (www.quantis-intl.com/fr) to determine their environmental impact. The fi naldetails of a communication strategy are currently being defi ned by the Agency Hop Cube(www.hop-cube.com) for these pioneer companies. This group project was piloted by theChamber of Commerce of Les Landes.
Ecoride
The next Ecoride evaluation committee will take place on Wednesday November 9th.Surveys to be returned can be downloaded at www.eurosima.com in the Environment section.A minimum of 14 points are necessary to be included in the project and to be able totake advantage of the EuroSIMA communication campaign.
New environmental document database
EuroSIMA members registered in Ecoride can access the new environmental documentdata base, which includes research on green materials, tools and methods for eco design,outstanding company initiatives around the world…
Eco Events 2011
Several new companies or associations have used the EuroSIMA Eco Event Guidelines in2011. We’d like to tip our hats off to such events as the Ride n’ Rose (Surf & Skate) in Anglet,the Riders Show in Seignosse, the EuroSIMA Surf Summit in Capbreton and the InternationalSurf Film Festival in Anglet.
EuroSIMA Surf Summit 2011
In early October, Cortney Mc Dermott (ex chairman of the Sustainability Working Group ofthe European Outdoor association) will present the Sustainability Development projects inthe Outdoor industry as well as the benefi ts of a collective approach among companies of asame industry (Adidas, Helly Hansen, Columbia, Salomon...).
